Wondering what “Cold-hold” is?
I like to use the term to say “unable to handle”.
When something is unable to handle, or someone is unable to handle anything properly, we say ‘You cold hold’. (use it as funny slang, not to offend someone)
You may find many different meanings of this term on Google related to food or law, but it is just slang here.
The term Cold-hold fits perfectly for those who are not ready to handle the impact of the action.
But always ready to jump on the task without preparation or understanding of the consequences.
You surely heard that every action has its own cause and effect.
In simple words, you can say that these kinds of people just focus on the cause and didn’t care much about the effect.
Cold hold impact
If you do cold hold in business then ready yourself to get rewards like ( out of competition or market, of-course financial loss, the downfall of brand image, lesion of customer loyalty & more).
I remember the time when I also became cold hold.
When I was in the e-commerce business, I discover to grow more sales in less time, I need to do promotions.
I learned to advertise, and digital marketing properly and start promoting my products.
In starting days I got a few orders but somewhere a loop is also created.
Like an amount of money automatically deducted from my account for ads and also came back as sales.
I was happy but not satisfied, so I tried some other strategies for improvement, and surprisingly it worked very well.
But the problem began here, where is the inventory? damn, I had only focused on marketing and didn’t care for stock.
It was not that I don’t check or manage stock, it was because I haven’t expected that my strategy will work.
Then I realise the meaning of being cold-hold.
Whatever may happen even if you are going to change even a minor thing in business,
and if there is a possibility of great impacts.
Then never ever take it facile, hold it very tight, and never cold-hold it.
Examples to understand it better.
- Suppose you have a laundry service shop, with enough sales and customers but you want to expand your biz.
- You started to give offers and discounts to grab more customers and you also succeed.
- But you did not realize that expansion would require more capital, manpower, maintenance etc.
- In this case, you are “cold-hold” because you are unable to handle the impact and totally wasted time money and effort.
Many sellers succeed in getting leads or sales from ads.
But when suddenly they got orders in a huge amount that they haven’t thought of or are pre-prepared for.
Which causes them to stolid customer replies, queries, late shipping, brand image degradation etc.
Cold hold can be compared to a loop trap like,
A state of that snake, who thinks his tail is his enemy and keeps biting, feeling pain and then questioning god what is my fault?
Get rid of
The problem with cold hold is not that your strategy or plan failed, but that your skill failed to handle it.
In life or business, there is an easy way to save yourself from being cold-hold.

First, check the cause and ask yourself why you want to do it.
Second, vision the effect and ask yourself what effect I will do and how it will affect me and things related to me. In short, analyse the consequences.
Finally, go with your mind “take the decision”.
The decision may or may not work but you have to take it.
And you should take it.
Either you will learn or experience.
